for £118.95. The bag
straps onto your Elise using 5 straps, one around the hinges on the engine bay
that takes the majority of the load, and 4 that secure the bag in place that
attach onto the wheel arches, and areas around the exhaust.
Why a boot-bag boot luggage rack for your Lotus Elise ?

The strap system for the Elise is unique and does carry a premium of £10 over the standard boot-bag.
It consists of a long looped strap for the engine bay and 4x1m long straps with
powder coated hooks, so NO damage to paintwork. The webbing also stays
stationary once pulled tight =
no damage to paintwork.
How it works
First the U shaped strap is placed in the engine bay, pull the two long straps though, the strap is secured by the hinges, then up above the engine cover. So no damage to the thin fibreglass engine cover. (one hinge on the S1,two on the S2 and beyond)
These straps attach to the front of the bag, the 4 other straps are then secured
to the wheel arches and fixing points near the exhaust. ( more below )
The soft anti slip mat is then placed on the rear of your Elise.
Place the bag on the car and attach the last 4 straps. These hook on by the exhaust on the bodywork, the two side straps hook onto the wheel arches. The hooks are steel and are powder coated, again to protect your paintwork. The last two hook onto various points on the back of your Elise.
S1,S2 and S3 hook by the exhaust.
The webbing that holds the bag on is 25mm wide and very strong, and remember we have been making boot-bags since 2006, so we know the system works.
The bag uses ladder lock fixings like you find on rucksacks etc once the straps are tight, the
Boot-bag is going no-where.
Like any other Boot-bag when you arrive simply hook the shoulder strap on and carry the bag away.
We know it works here is what Neil and Simon had to say :-
'Antony i am currently in France and the boot-bag is brilliant No problems in fitting it - takes about three minutes - and it seems to cling on well when chucking the car in to the corners, the bag is a perfect size too Definitely a good purchase thank's ' NG (Lotus Elise S1 owner) 10.6.09
hi I just wanted to drop you a note to say all went okay with the boot-bag. Perfectly stable at 80mph on French roads, I can't see any damage to paintwork and no cooling issues on the engine. It outlasted the Elise which unfortunately due to a track rod end failure came back on a transporter. Simon Hough 20.7.10 ( Elise S1 owner )
Ed Foster of Motorsport Magazine also used a boot-bag on his S1 UK tour, see any 2010 copy of the magazine.
