There are two sizes in the boot-bag range :
original - $159.95 - 1.65 cubic feet / 50 Litres of additional luggage capacity measures 28"x15"x8" giving 50 litres (1.75 cubic feet) of additional storage. The soft non slip mat the bag sits on is slightly bigger.
vacation - $194.95 - 2.7 cubic feet / 75 Litres of additional luggage capacity, its 50% larger than the boot-bag original measuring 36"x16"x8"
If the leading edge of the bag is not full, the roof can just be used , or loosen the straps move the bag back use the roof and re tighten, it does not need to come off the trunk lid. Video below

Attach the six ends of the straps to the bag, they simply loop around the trunk/boot lid
